How to Tell Your Stories: A Writing Activity

Why is it important to tell your stories? Because your family needs to know. Because your friends need to know. Because you need to remember.

The problem is that most people don't think they have interesting stories. And, if they want to write them down, they don't know where to begin.

That wasn't a problem for the residents at the Tuckahoe Pines Resort Community. During the months of February and March of 2024, Patti and David guided a group of 12 people through the process of writing their stories. Throughout the 6-week workshop, the residents learned how to write emotionally engaging and intimate portraits of their lives while they developed a sense of community. On the final day of the workshop, 8 writers presented their work to an audience of family and friends who packed the facility to hear their stories.
